A girls’ basketball game between Rochester Lourdes and the Zumbrota – Mazeppa Cougars on Friday, December 20 has been designated as Alumni Recognition Night. All former Zumbrota Tiger, Mazeppa Indian, and Zum-Maz Cougar girl varsity basketball players are invited to attend. Admission will be charged but you are asked to attend to visit with old team members. All coaches from the past 50 years are also asked to attend.
Tiger, Indian, and Cougar girl basketball players will be introduced in their groups. Junior High, Grade 9, and JV coaches will be introduced as a group. Head Coaches and 1,000 point scorers will be introduced as individuals.
Wayne Anderson, a local sports historian, has located all the old varsity photos of all the girls’ teams from the past 50 years. They will be on display in the hallway in the Zumbrota gym. All former girl basketball players are asked to contact their former team members about this event to help celebrate 50 years of girls’ basketball. Make phone calls, text, use Face Book, and other means of social media to get the word out. The first game that night is at 5:30 PM and the program will take place right after the first game and before the varsity game.
