Tammy Gary, age 50, passed away at her home  in Mazeppa, MN on Tuesday November 15, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy and brave battle against cancer. 


Tammy Lee Gary was born on April 4, 1972, in Lake City to Elmer and Dawn (Farnsworth) Gary. Tammy grew up in the Hammond area. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1990. Following graduation, she lived in South Dakota for a time and her daughter was born in 1995. Tammy moved back to Rochester in 1998 and then moved to Mazeppa in 2014. She was a certified nursing assistant for over 20 years. She cared for many people over the years and worked at Madonna Meadows in Rochester until 2015 when her cancer returned. Tammy loved to camp and canoe, snowmobile and dance. Her happiest place was near the ocean with her feet in the sand. Time with family and friends meant everything to Tammy. 


She will be missed by her companion and fiancé: Peder Quanrud of Mazeppa, her daughter: Desire McCollum (Jullian Tottingham) of Rochester, stepson: Allan "A.J." (Megan) Quanrud of Zimmerman, MN, two grandchildren: Dylana McCollum and Jaxsyn Love of Rochester. Tammy is further survived by her parents: Elmer (Cindy) Gary of Plainview and Dawn Gary of Mazeppa, her in-laws: Allan (Vernetta) Quanrud of Nowthen, MN and her grandmother: Doris Gary of Hammond, one brother: Jason (Amy) Gary of Rochester and one sister: Jennifer Gary of Mazeppa, three nieces, two nephews and many friends. 


Tammy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Cecil and Phyllis Farnsworth and paternal grandfather, Ruben Gary. 


A memorial service will be held at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota on Friday December 2nd at 3:30 PM. The visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:30 on the day of the service.   A celebration of her life will be held at the Mazeppa Community Center following services. Burial will take place in the Mazeppa Cemetery at a later date. 


Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota is assisting the family with arrangements.
