The Minnesota Department of Health’s Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) is a state-based program to promote healthier eating, increased physical activity, enhanced wellbeing, and tobacco-free living. The goal is to help reduce the leading causes of chronic disease through these opportunities.
Wabasha County SHIP involves schools, children, seniors, farmers, neighbors, and local businesses working together.
“Through collaboration, we are making significant strides with our partners across Wabasha County to create healthier communities,” said local SHIP Coordinator Tina Moen. “However, there is still more work to be done to help the citizens of Wabasha County live longer, healthier lives.”
Local connection nurtures success
Moen is a resident of Wisconsin and has been working with partners in Wabasha County for eleven years building trust and connections. Practicing what she preaches, Moen enjoys outdoor adventures such as biking, kayaking, and hiking with her husband and two dogs. She appreciates a nutritious salad and brings a wealth of life and work experience to her SHIP responsibilities.
"I care about what matters to our partners and strive to meet them where they are in any SHIP-related project," said Moen.
