Field of Flags

Thank You American Auxiliary Post #588 for 16 years of dedicated service

The Mazeppa American Legion Post #588 would like to thank Eva Van De Walker and the American Auxiliary Post #588 for all of their years of service hosting the Field of Flags Opening Ceremony each and every year since the program started in July 2007. Eva and the ladies of the American Auxiliary have graciously handed off their important duties to The Mazeppa Honor Guard. These dedicated ladies have been honoring loved ones who have since passed on in such a beautiful way for the past 16 years. Last year the Auxiliary counted just short of 500 flags which are spread across the Jaycee’s Walking Bridge Park in a breathtaking view of red, white, and blue. If you have not yet had the opportunity to take part in this event I encourage the community to attend this year. The Mazeppa Honor Guard would like to invite you all out to the Field of Flags Opening Ceremony, the program will take place at Jaycee’s Walking Bridge Park on Thursday, July 11 starting at 7:00 p.m. Flags are now available for request and the cost of the flags are $10.00 each; you can request a flag honoring your loved one by contacting Troy Liffrig or Wes Voeltz of the Mazeppa American Legion via email at legionpost588@outlook.com; please include with your request your contact information. The American Legion is open for business Monday evenings at 5:00 p.m. and the community is welcome to stop in during open hours to inquire about flag requests as well as before and after the Memorial Day Service which will be held this year on Monday, May 27.
