William CROUCH PURCHASES NORTH SIDE CONOCO STATION
William Crouch of this village took over operations of the North Side Conoco Station last Friday to succeed Walter Reiland who had operated this business the past five years.
Mr. Crouch previously had sold the business to Mr. Reiland, after three years of ownership and since then has worked two years for Valley Motors, one year at Gruhlke’s Station, one year with Ramthun Construction Co., and the past year and a half at the Pine Island Box Factory.
The new owner is well experienced in this business and best wishes are extended him.
Weddings
AMUNDSEN-AREND
Grace Arend, Mazeppa resident for three years, and Glenn Amundsen, prominent Rochester business man, were married at 7 p.m., Wednesday evening at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church. The Rev. Theo. Haar officiated.
For a number of years he directed operations of The B. Amundsen Company, paint firm which was founded by this father. His activities in the industry led to his serving in several official capacities with Minnesota Association of painting Contractors and ultimately led to his election as state president of that organization.
Prominent in the civic and fraternal world, Mr. Amundsen was mayor of Rochester from 1951 to 1953.
WINFRED LARSON HEADS MAZEPPA FARM BUREAU UNIT
Winfred Larson was elected president of the Mazeppa Farm Bureau at a meeting at the Kenneth Tupper home, Oct. 18. Other officers are Harley Siems, vice-president; Clayton Pfeiffer, secretary-treasurer; home and community chairman, Miss Severa Goetsch; assistant

Otto Gerber, a member of the Minnesota Farm Bureau board of directors, was guest speaker.
The next meeting will be held at the Winfred Larson home, Wednesday evening, November 16. Harlan Pahl will give a talk on Rural Youth and Ennis Wood of Lake City will talk about what the farm Bureau is doing.
Winfred Larson and Lloyd Grossbach are on the program committee and the refreshment committee is Mrs. Larson, Mrs. Grossbach and Mrs. John Reiland.
Lunde To Address Veteran’s Banquet
The evening will begin with a turkey dinner, served by the Methodist Ladies Aid John Gruhlke, commander of the Legion will welcome the group. Robert Ramthun, chaplain, will give the prayer, followed by the playing of “Taps” by Gerhardt Gahler and the echo by Charles Robinson. Mrs. Leo Liffrig will extend her group’s greeting.
Charles Robinson, Delores Sand, Adrienne Budensiek, Alan Grossbach and Mary Webster will present an instrumental number, under the direction of Harry Prouty.
L.R. Lunde, Lake City attorney, will give the main address of the evening. He will be followed by a girls’ trio, Ann Gregoire, Janice Ramthun and Mary Webster.
The singing of “America will close the dinner program. A dance will then be held at Gahler’s Nite Club, with the public cordially invited to attend.
DRIVERS’ TRAINING
The new drivers’ training car has arrived. It is a new ford and has all the latest safety devices. The car is furnished through the courtesy of Valley Motors.
