Changing of Seasons/Closet Cleanout!

Posted

I acquired a bad habit from my mother, and she got it from her mother.  We love CLOTHES!  When I was a kid, my grandparents lived in St. Paul in a condo.  A few times a year, we would stay for the weekend and literally shop ‘til we dropped.  Those are the best memories I have, shopping with grandma and mom.  I can honestly say, I used to LIVE for clothes.  And that is why I enjoy picking clothes out for our store MotoProz.

Anyway, it can be hard to let go of all the clothes.  Years ago, I got a cedar chest and put off-season clothes in there.  That means twice a year, I go through my clothes.  If the cedar chest gets too full, it is time to downsize.  I told myself, no more buying sweaters, dresses, or dress pants now that I no longer need business clothes for work.  Of course, I kept a few of my favorite things.

I took it one step further, and bought a shelving unit with 8 separate cubbies and labeled them with “shorts, t-shirts, capris, vacation clothes, etc.”  This has made it super easy switching out clothes between seasons, and I no longer dig at the bottom of the cedar chest!  I also keep some clothes at our cabin.  I can just jump in the car and don’t have to bring too much stuff back and forth.

Having less clothes, helps keeps my closet at home more organized.  If something doesn’t fit, I get rid of it or put it in another spot if I am not quite ready to part with it yet.

Stay tuned for next month’s topic:  Spring Cleaning!  There’s so much to do, so little time.  Bye for now!
