A Monthly Moment at MotoProz

Posted

Our niece’s daycare closed unexpectedly one day last month, so my sister-in-law asked if she could come to MotoProz for a few minutes after she got off the school bus.  I said, “Sure no problem”.  Happy to help.  Her bus driver stopped in to MotoProz that morning to let us know she announced on the bus she was going to MotoProz after school.

Just like when Monty was a kid, we were worried about Tessa crossing the street by herself, so I walked up to school get her from the bus.  Of course, we got a big thunderstorm that day.  The weather had cleared up.  Not knowing the exact time her bus would come in, I headed up to school.  I was waiting for her, and I know I looked out of place.  I had a couple people help and ask me who I was waiting for. I said, “My niece Tessa in second grade”.  They assured me her bus was coming yet.

Tessa arrived and said her good-byes to about 20 kids and knew everyone’s name.  It was so cute.  I told her about the lady that asked me who I was waiting for, and Tessa corrected me that she was in first grade not second grade.  I said, “Well the first and second graders both ride the same bus, right”?  Right.  She got to MotoProz, took off her jacket, I noticed her shirt.  “Look, you got your MotoProz shirt on!”  She said, “Uncle Mikey, I almost wore jeans today too!”  Just like our uniform.  I asked if she had any homework, so we worked on some reading words.  We cut them out into flash cards, and in five minutes, she had them memorized.

A customer came in.  I said hi.  She said hi, and he asked her if she was the boss.  She said no, and I said, “You are not even going to pretend you are the boss, you are kind of are the boss.”  It was a fun afternoon with her, and I am happy to be able to help out my family when they need it.
