A meeting of area soil conservationists and members of Mazeppa Commercial club met at the Community rooms last Thursday evening for the purpose of discussing plans for 1956 Plowville to be held here next year.
The next meeting date was set for October 31 at the site of next year’s event where further plans will be made.
RICHARD WEBSTER NARROWLY ESCAPES DEATH FRIDAY
Richard Webster, 11 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Webster, was a mighty lucky boy last Friday morning.
He accompanied his father, who was cutting brush along the power lines near the Bernard Marx residence. He climbed a tree, started to fall and grabbed a live wire. In addition to a 15 foot fall, he suffered burns on one hand, under one arm and on his leg.
He was kept in the Zumbrota hospital that day under observation.
Weddings
ROBINSON-WHITE
The First Methodist church of Susanville, Calif., was the setting Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. for the marriage of Gloria Charlene White and Neil Donald Robinson.
Charles Robinson of Mazeppa was his brother’s best man.
Dean Robinson of Rochester, brother of the groom, played several appropriate organ selections preceding the ceremony.
The bride was the youngest daughter of Reverend and Mrs. Henry Page White of Susanville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Robinson of Mazeppa. He is a graduate of Mazeppa High School and received his B.S. degree from Winona state Teachers college. He has recently been separated from the United States Navy.
The young couple will make their home in Greely, Colo., where he will enter the graduate school of Education in Greely, Colo., where he will study for his master’s degree in education.
Farwell
We hate to bid farewell---but wish all the luck in the world---to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Butlin, Penny and Becky. The Butlin’s are leaving this week-end to make their home in the Los Angeles area. Paul and Donna leave a host of friends behind.

1956 Plowing Contest Committees Named
Plans for State Plowville of 1956 to be held north of Mazeppa next fall advanced another step this week when all committees, members and their duties were released by the central steering committee.
Four School Buses Now in Operation
Mazeppa Public School officially started the new school year Wednesday morning with the doors opening at 8:15 to a total enrollment of 244 students.
A breakdown of enrollment found a total of 128 in grades one through six, and 116 in grades seven through twelve.
J.S. Wild, who furnishes busses and is in charge of transportation, reports that four units are in operation. They include two Chevrolet 48 passenger busses, and one Ford 36 passenger vehicle, all thoroughly reconditioned for the coming year. The fourth unit is a new 48 passenger Ford bus. Mr. Wild reports that the addition of the extra bus requires one trip for each vehicle, resulting in earlier arrivals for children to their homes.
Bus drivers are Robert Stoddard, Walter Tri, Norbert Sand, Norbert Tri and J.S. Wild.
Weddings
Anderson- Green
On Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. Marlene L. Green of Alexandria and Royce D. Anderson of Eagle Bend were married at Petri Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are now at home in Mazeppa, where he is employed at the creamery.
New Homes
New homes under construction this area include those of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Nehring, in town, Mr. and Mrs. Ore Oelkers’ just east of Mazeppa and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ehlers on their farm.
