Missy's Managing the Manor

Mission kitchen organization!

Posted

The beginning of January every year, my boys Mike and Monty go on a snowmobile trip to Michigan with a group of guys. I can’t believe my life has come to this, but when they are gone, I take the time to organize the kitchen. I toss out expired food when Mike is gone, along with kitchen gadgets we no longer use (or have never used). We have a pantry and a lot of cupboard space, and we utilize pretty much every inch.

I remember the first time I started this ritual of cleaning the kitchen while Mike was gone, Monty, a young little guy, had to stay home with me. I stayed up late organizing the cupboards after he fell asleep. I always toss out a couple grocery bags of expired food that seems to get lost in the cupboard.

This year, I’m hiring a friend from high school, Tricia Herron Meyers from Lake City to come and help me. We used to work together at the Galley Restaurant in Lake City. I don’t think we’ve seen each other since our days at the Galley. It will be fun to catch up, get more organized, and have someone tell me it’s okay to get rid of stuff we don’t use!

If you are interested in learning more, Tricia is talking at the Lake City Public Library, Thursday, January 26th at 6:30PM Tidy Solutions: Tips for decluttering your home. No need to register. Just show up! If you want her number, find her on Facebook or I can hook you up!

There’s so much to do, so little time. Bye for now!
